Welcome to Project Mockingbird

Project Mockingbird is our shared vision for ministry, leadership, and community impact—building a brighter future for generations on our campus and throughout Dallas.

Where We Are Now

Phase 1 of Project Mockingbird construction begins Monday, April 6—right after Easter and includes updates to Wesley Hall, Chance’s Cafe (Currently Room 120), and the Kids Ministry spaces on the second floor.

As Phase 1 begins, you'll start to see progress that will bring new and improved spaces designed to better serve our congregation for years to come.

During Phase 1 construction, the covered entrance to the Wallace Building will be closed. This temporary change helps make way for the new and improved spaces to take shape. Clear signage will guide you to alternate entrances, with the primary church entry located at the Sanctuary North Doors, where the Welcome Desk will be temporarily located. Our staff and volunteers will be there to warmly welcome and assist you.

We encourage you to allow a little extra time when arriving for worship, classes, and events. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we move forward together—we’re excited for all that’s ahead!

Perched on the campus of Southern Methodist University on Dallas’ iconic Mockingbird Lane, Highland Park United Methodist Church (HPUMC) has served as a dynamic force of generosity, healing, and empowerment for our city since 1916. As we approach our 110th anniversary as a church, we are more committed than ever to ensuring that Dallas not only grows but truly thrives today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.

HPUMC’s capital campaign, Project Mockingbird, raised over $46 million to make this vision a reality—investing in the people and places that will shape the future of our church, our leaders, and our community partners.

These improvements are an important step for the church and are about more than the building. As we invest in these spaces, we are building a brighter future for how HPUMC is called to be a light in Dallas: forming community, nurturing faith in the next generation, deepening our community partnerships, and expanding opportunities to serve.
